Charuni Gamage

Charuni is an Attorney-at-Law of the Supreme Court of Sri Lanka with over eight years of legal experience and more than five years in academia. She holds a Bachelor's in Economics from the University of Colombo, an LLM in International Commercial Law from Buckinghamshire New University (UK), a Masters in Labour Relations and Human Resource Management from the University of Colombo, and a Postgraduate Diploma in International Banking and Finance Law from EdHat International (UK). She has also earned a Diploma in Shipping Law from the Institute for the Development of Commercial Law and Practice (ICLP).

Charuni began her legal career at Paul Ratnayeke Associates and went on to serve in key in-house legal roles, including Assistant Manager Legal at Softlogic Finance PLC and Deputy Regional Manager Legal at SDB Bank. She later joined a USAID-funded development project as the Project Component Lead for legal reform. Currently, she serves as the Group Contract Specialist for the GAC Group, handling complex international contracting matters.

In parallel with her legal practice, Charuni is a passionate legal educator and researcher. She lectures in Corporate and Business Law at the University of Colombo, CINEC Campus, Sanasa Campus, and at Wisdom Business Academy for CIMA students. She also conducts legal research, publishes academic papers, and works as a consultant for companies and SMEs, providing guidance on compliance, contract law, and regulatory frameworks. Charuni regularly conducts workshops and training sessions for entrepreneurs and serves as a legal educator in donor-funded development initiatives.
